Serendipitune
Reinventing how we explore recorded music.
Jacques Krischer
sound engineer, psychoacoustician, and music-database pioneer.
Four decades at the meeting point of sound, data and perception
Jacques Krischer trained as a sound engineer at INSAS in Brussels, then as a psychoacoustician – the study of how hearing actually works. Four decades on, that question still shapes his work. From mastering and archiving to metadata, rights and interface design, his career has followed a single thread: making recorded music, and everything that surrounds it, easier to reach and better understood.
Today, alongside his role as Chief Music Officer at Holographic Amusements in New York, he designs – through Serendipitune – websites and mobile applications that reinvent how people discover recorded music: not merely to listen, but to explore everything around it.
A career building for music and its listeners
- Mastering & sound restoration at scale – founded DIGIPRO, Europe's largest CD-mastering group, with twenty-six studios.
- Preserving recorded heritage – led major audio-archiving programmes for the Bibliothèque nationale de France, EMI and others.
- Music metadata & databases – reference systems built for BMG, EMI, Sony, Universal, Warner and Philips, among others, across Europe and the United States.
- Rights & royalties – years spent tracing works broadcast across thousands of radio stations worldwide, identifying rights holders so that royalties reached the people who earned them.
- Building music ventures – co-created the Arnault Group's music venture, and later acquired and modernised its music assets.
- Immersive music experiences – Chief Music Officer at Holographic Amusements, New York.
- Technology for good – websites and mobile applications built for charities, volunteer groups and non-profit associations.
